Bible Stories in Modern Times

"Bible Stories in Modern Times" is a homage to all the great painters of yesteryear who had to do religious paintings in order to make a living.  Furthermore, there are some great stories and good drama, to work with.

St. Peter and the Denial of Christ is from the Bible story where after denying knowing Christ for the third time he hears the cock crow and goes off alone to cry out his shame. This one is played straight. He is alone in an alley after hearing the third alarm clock.

Adam and Eve and the Exile from Paradise has a more modern interpretation.  Adam and Eve exile themselves from Paradise because they are
bored.  They leave fighting and fucking leading the short title to be "That's Amore!"

From the Gospel of John, "And the Word Became Flesh."  The modern take on this is the Data becomes flesh.  You can look at this religiously or simply this is the next stage of our evolution, the merging of man and machine.

The Good Soldier  comes from the story of the love triangle of King David, Uriah the Hittite and Uriah's wife, Bathsheba. While Uriah was off at war doing his duty for king and country, David was sleeping with his wife.  Set in a Nam and you have this painting.

Here we find the story of Abraham and Isaac.  God told Abe to kill his son to test his loyalty, and  in this composition, the viewer is Isaac.  The red background is play on the idea of seeing red.

The Road to Damascus portrays St. Paul as a Hell's Angel biker.  Instead of a horse,  he is on his hog and the biker gang is the antithesis of the Christian lifestyle.

The parable of the Sermon on the Mount and the Drone Sky Lord: Big Dog, Big Dog, this is Sky Lord. Come in, over.Big Dog: Big Dog.Sky Lord: There is a crowd in Sector 6. Preliminary data scan indicates no permit issued. Satellite and 3-D imaging of area indicates no anti air capabilities and collateral damage index is statistically insignificant. Still waiting on facial recognition data. Over.Big Dog: hhhhmmm. An unauthorized mob, no threat, no witnesses?Sky Lord: Affirmative.Big Dog: Don’t wait for the facial. Give them a facial. Haha. Light them up.Sky Lord: Roger that.

The Calling of St. Matthews The tradition is St. Matthew was a rich man so made him a Wall St guy. And here you have our man Hey-Zeus interrupting another boozy celebration of Money for nothing and the chicks for free.

"The march of technology ends here. The Mars Rover at the Gates of Eden."

This one is inspired by Lazarus and the rich man. The rich man ends up in hell where he can't find any relief for his suffering or warn his living family. The name of this painting is "The true torment of the dead is that they can't warn the living."
